Hi, I'm Whitney!
A third-grade teacher on a mission to help teachers and students conquer math anxiety and discover the joy of math.
If you're reading this, you're probably a teacher (or parent) who wants to make math more fun and meaningful for your students, but you're not quite sure where to start.
Well, I'm here to help!
Like many of you, I used to think that math was all about memorizing formulas and doing endless drills.
But over the years, I've come to realize that math is so much more than that. It's about problem-solving, critical thinking, and making connections between different concepts.
As a teacher, I've spent years experimenting with different teaching methods, and I'm proud to say that I've found an approach that really works.
It's called Cognitive Guided Instruction (CGI), and it's all about helping students develop their own understanding of math by giving them real-world problems to solve and encouraging them to think creatively.
But here's the thing: I know that teachers are busy people. You don't have time to completely overhaul your curriculum or spend hours creating new lesson plans.
That's why I'm all about finding small, simple ways to incorporate math into your day-to-day teaching.
Whether it's a quick routine at the beginning of class or a fun problem-solving activity, I'm here to show you that teaching math doesn't have to be a chore.
In fact, it can be one of the most rewarding parts of your day!
So, if you're ready to take your math teaching to the next level, stick around.
I'll be sharing tips, tricks, and stories from my own classroom, as well as insights from other math teachers who are doing amazing things. Let's make math fun again!
